Thrips are sap-sucking insects only 2-3mm long.
Thrips tend to start low down in the plant around the veins of the leaves and among the growing medium. Leaves and buds can be distorted or torn by the feeding and mottled or flecked patches may be seen on the leaf. Thrips are often difficult to control with chemical sprays because they are frequently resistant to pesticides and hide in the soil and around the room. The predator we sell for thrips is another predatory mite like the spidermite predator and equally voracious. They prefer high humidity.
Should not be used with pesticides, as the chemicals may kill the predators.
Ask our staff for advice if you have treated your plants with a chemical insecticide recently.
